Students One-on-One

A few words from the mouths of our very students:

Lindsey Perrone

Why did you choose to become a PA?
I always knew I wanted to practice medicine and I love the flexibility a PA has in being able to move to different fields of medicine throughout their career.

In what field(s) of medicine are you interested in working?
I am still mostly undecided and plan on figuring a large part of that out during my clinical year, but I have always been interested in pediatrics and emergency medicine.. so maybe a combo of the two?

What’s so great about Charleston?
I LOVE Charleston. There are always new things to do, places to eat, and things to see. Part of what makes it so great is that even though it is a city, it still has that small town charm. And being from Connecticut I am truly enjoying the warm weather and frequent trips to the beach. And friends and family are so easy to entertain and are always wanting to come visit! Obviously I could go on and on…

Shh, don’t tell them, but my favorite professor is…
Still somewhat undecided, but if I had to choose I would say Dr. Bushardt. He just seems to have this innate quality of being able to describe complex concepts in an easy and entertaining way.

When you get away from school, what do you do for fun and/or burn off stress?
Trips to the beach, going for a run on the battery, doing some downtown shopping, and having nights out with new friends are all ways I like to spend what free time I have.

What’s your favorite medical TV show?
Grey’s Anatomy! I’ve been watching since the 1st season and just can’t give it up.

Any advice to give prospective students?
Be yourself during interviews! A good school should be concerned with finding out who you are. And remember… they should be just as interested in getting you as a student as you are of being accepted!
