Where Should I Live?

This is a tough one, and is dependent on your price range, whether you want a roommate, and whether you want to walk to campus or you are willing to drive.

Finding a Roommate

If you are looking for a roommate, we recommend that you contact future classmates via Facebook.  We have established a Facebook group for your class, MUSC PA Class of 2012.  Additionally, MUSC offers some web resources to contact future/current students regarding roommates: http://academicdepartments.musc.edu/housing/roommatesearch.html.

And throughout the spring, MUSC offers ‘Roommate Finder Parties’ where you can get together and meet potential roommates.  Check this website for updated information regarding these parties: http://academicdepartments.musc.edu/housing/

Finding a place to live

Living downtown will offer convenience, but will likely cost you more than if you chose to live off the peninsula.  You must also consider parking as spaces are in high demand and usually limited.  West Ashley and James Island are two convenient locations which may offer lower rents and better parking.  Commutes range from 5-20 minutes depending on location.  Housing at the base of the James Island Connector offers the most commuting convenience.

Additional Resources

We have a few classmates who have offered to provide advice about where to live.  Please feel free to contact these students with your housing questions by email or on Facebook.
